“Free to those that can afford it, very expensive to those that can’t”* Creating the Luxury of Freedom of Information | The Irish Politics Forum
“Free to those that can afford it, very expensive to those that can’t”* Creating the Luxury of Freedom of Information | The Irish Politics Forum: The overriding philosophy of such legislation is to open up the institutions of government to the scrutiny of the public in the public interest. If anything the legislation, to be truly reforming, should place a duty on public bodies to make public interest information openly accessible and not just accessible due to a journalist or campaigner asking right questions in a request. Julia Gillard's adoption apology comes after an abyss of trauma | Andie Fox | Comment is free | theguardian.com: The national apology was one of the more beautiful and principled speeches given by a prime minister in Australia. "We deplore the shameful practices that denied you, the mothers, your fundamental rights and responsibilities to love and care for your children. You were not legally or socially acknowledged as their mothers. And you were yourselves deprived of care and support.
